To sit along side the the pack of Sea Wolves now residing at Chez Offshore, I finally got my hands on this prime example of the Zodiac GMT. Same base as the Sea Wolf, but with (obviously) a modified movement. Not too frequently spotted around the traps, and rare to find one in this condition. Even rarer was the fact it slipped through the cracks as far as bidders went...my snipe bid was for over $200 more, so having it knocked down at under $200 incl delivery was a real bonus. Can you believe, only 1 other bid? Have developed a real thing for these Vietnam war vets of late, and they are escalating in value. I even purchased a couple of hundred $$ worth of movement bits last week to help the refurbishments I am undertaking-http://www.ebay.com....984.m1497.l2649 I now just need to dig up the correct bracelet for this one and make it a total winner. J!m 289 Posted August 20, 2013 I also like these early designs. Zodiac make a great watch; however since the murderer who stole the name was stalking CA, they fell from grace in the USA... I have watched, bid and lost a few over the years, but I'm particular as to what I go after. I have never seen a GMT version before, so this is quite a nice catch! offshore 0 Posted August 20, 2013 But doesn't the "Zodiac Killer" sideplay, just add a bit more interest to the whole thing? I really think these will become a high end collectable. There are enough around to keep collectors "collecting." They have Vietnam era heritage. They no longer exist in their own right... (Company now bought by Fossil) They were an in house (or the very least a JV movement) And yet for all of the above their remain enough parts to keep working to resurrect these beauties. I suspect this thread here will increase the counter-bidders against you from now on... :help3: I look at all older "unknown" watch brands. I pay particular attention to the movements and functions. There were/are some nice "off-brand" watches floating around out there, and generally they were never repped. Part finding can be difficult as you know, but I will sometimes find parts and then look for the corresponding watch, rather than the other way around. It is much easier that way...
