Olly 0 Posted September 1, 2013 Hi fellas, I've just been offered an Apprenticeship and at the end of the 4 year course ill have a bonus of £3500 VAT Free Cash !! I instantly thought well i need to buy a watch to congratulate my success. The issue is what watch should i go for ? I've got two ideas of what i want but there is a £2k price difference. Rolex 116610 LN £5,800 ish Or the latest Omega Planet Ocean 8500 £3,600 ish I can make up the extra £2k needed to get the Rolex but i want an honest opinion from you all. My view is, with the Omega ill get more for my money, it is a more substantial watch but it will lose it's value faster than a Rolex. The Rolex is timeless and will hold its value, it fits comfy on the wrist and it is more known to others than the Omega. trevsdad 0 Posted September 1, 2013 from your description, sounds as if you've already made up your mind, but I'd suggest going with the Omega PO. I think the brand has earned its place among the best, and as a watchmaker, it might be a nice nod to George Daniels and his co-axial escapement. As much as I love the Rolex brand and its timeless quality, it's become a bit of a cliche...besides, I'm not too pleased about what I hear the company has done to edge out indy watchmakers in your field.
