Hi mate

Yes, I was being thick!

Thought it was an abbreviation for something,

but think it's covering the I with sub dial pointer?

Here's mine, sold to cragster some time ago.

I like the style and I'm normally fine with big watches but this just never felt right on me.

Mine is broken. Crazy pilot hit a tree. In talks with toro for spares ATM. It is a great watch, prefer the working PR and with out the "framed" date window.

Hello all,

I've read a few comments describing the grey dial 5004 as platinum. In curiosity, I did some poking around on the net to clarify if this is true. Here are my findings:

1. The model that we've been referring to is 5004-02.

2. Dial color is in fact grey ardoise, not platinum.

3. There is a platinum big pilot! Its not the 5004-02 though.

4. There (as far as I've been able to find) are no big pilots with

Platinum grey dial colors. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The only platinum big pilot that I've been able to find is a limited version of the 5002. Its the case (not the dial) that is made in platinum. The dial on this version is black. However, the two dots on either side if the 12 o'clock triangle are metal instead of the traditional white. That's how you can tell that the case is platinum.

Hope it helps.

Check Mr. Pap's 5002 pics earlier in this thread. He has the platinum version that I am referring to. Its definitely a stunning watch! I'd grab one in a second, if I could find one lol!

Some pics of my 5002 Franken. This is pretty much as close you can get without getting a genuine...

The pinhole is in a different location on the 5004, but the concept is the same as in the video. Check it out:
Hope it helps

So you don't unscrew the crown, just press the release-button and pick out the stem and crown?

After that: I think I have to unscrew 1 or 2 screws fixing the movement to the body, then pick out the movement complete, right? And now my plan (on a 5002 with fixed PR): is it very difficult to make the DAYSI/Full-PR-mod on your own? I mean without having tweezerlike fingers and magnifier eyes? Pick off the PR arm from the little stem, move it a bit and set it back to the stem? Or just turn round the PR arm a little bit without removing it from the stem?

Sorry for being OT.

Hello,

I've had both grey (5004-02), and black dial (5004-01) big pilots with faux (fixed) power reserve big pilots. Both are the most recent versions.

I can say that on both versions there are no additional screws to take out prior to removing the movement. Just a metal ring securing the movement in the case. I simply flipped the case over once the stem was out and caseback was removed. The movement came right out.

I can't speak from experience regarding the 5002.

I did have to unscrew the stem where it is screwed into the case for waterproofing purpose. Once the stem is unscrewed from the case and the pinhole button is pressed, the stem came right out.

I used a toothpick to gently move the power reserve hand to full position. It did not pop off the stem holding the hand. 15 minute mod max on both my watches with no prior experience modding

Hope it helps.
