Venus 75 Automatic

Hi, I am new here and I am trying to learn the ropes on this new hobby of mine.

I have just bought my first A.Lange & Sohne Datograph with a Venus 75 automatic[ that what it is written]

Well can somebody be kind and maybe explain some information regarding this movement please.

I think the dealer that sold you the watch does not know movements very well. Was he a criminal?

 

The hand wind asian Venus 175 is a good movement

 

I have not seen the automatic version of this movement in more than one replica...please provide pictures of your movement for a more detailed comment from me

Firstly, it's not auto - it's going to be a hand-wind movement.

 

Secondly it's not a Venus 75 - it's a Sea-gull ST19 (often referred to as 'Copy Venus').

Amazing what a bit of actual searching can find.....putting Venus 75 movement into Google pops this from RWI in as the second hit

And as Gran said, this is a handwind movement not an automatic so not sure the dealer you bought from knows much either

Hi All,

Thank for your feedback. actually I did a Google search but since as it is said the description of Venus 75 auto it seems not the right name.

I have ordered this watch to-day, so it will be some time before I receive it, but I will try to post pictures.

Now with all your help I can search for the Sea-gull ST19. Thank You All.

They discontinued the Auto already? Sheesh it's only a couple of years old.

Mind you why hide such a beautiful MVT behind a rotor?

 

Actually technically it's not a copy Venus175, it is the Venus175.

Sea-Gull bought the rights, blueprints and the machinery for the movement back in 1962 so "copy" is the wrong term. The current ST-19 is an improved version of said MVT replete with a few minor improvements. It's a bloody good movement, bomb proof in it's reliability and by far the best chronograph made in China and the equal of anything made anywhere. It's also the only true column wheel chronograph MVT available in a watch under 2500 dollars or so.

 

Here is a review of my Sea-Gull 1963 re-issue. The venerable '63 is the watch the Venus was bought to power: http://horologium.co...l-1963-reissue/ I love this watch, I wear it a lot.
