Luthier 1 Posted July 1, 2010 Ordered custom made Regatta, gift to my lefty friend. He prefer SS bracelets and chrono, so, the only watch I could find for reversing rehault and dial, was Regatta. The problem is - bracelet doesn't fit case, I was told to buy tubes, enlarge bracelet holes, insert tubes, and everything will be fine. Also, I ordered extra dial, that I can eliminate numbers on right subdial, and then my watchsmith will swap the dials, and voila - Destro Franken done. Easy to say, ofcourse... I bought tubes on eBay already, 20 of them, so, if somebody need 12-14 tubes - just let me know. Well, we'll see, how it'll work. Here photoshoped image of what'd I want to get:

Luthier 1 Posted July 15, 2010 It's done. Destro Regatta for my friend just was born. Will come with SS bracelet, that I have to figure out how to attach (tubes already bought), and extra dial, that I can eliminate numbers on the right subdial, and replace watch dial on the new one. Mary noticed, that seconds hand isn't blue, so, tomorrow her watchsmith will replace it, and watch will be shipped to me. First customized watch directly from the factory!!! Well, actually, second one, first was my Rolex DD. Kudos to sweet Mary again!!!

Luthier 1 Posted August 20, 2010 OK, Saga continues. Proper "Blue Seconds Hand" Regatta with reversed dial and rehault waiting for SS bracelet. I thought to redrill holes on the bracelet, but, instead, decided to shorten end links. Dremel Mototool with 120 grit sanding barrel should do the job. Need to shave off about 1,3mm of stainless steel on both end links, preserving the curve and angle of the inner surface. Here we go... The picture of the end links - one is already shaved, another still untouched. Finished product: SAY "NO" TO RUBBER!!! Now... Extra dial, that Mary sourced for me, should be "modded" too. Now seconds hand run in the minutes subdial, with numbers 10....20....30. Numbers were scratched off, but the bronze of the dial is visible now. Airbrushing didn't give desirable quality, so, I'll make small picture of seconds subdial, print it on very thin polymer, cut it off and glue inside deeply recessed subdial. Watch next post!!! Just noticed, that there's full set of extra hands (hour, minute and small seconds hands) in that package. Dial and hands made in Tianjin factory, by the way.
