The guy that would be taking their new quartz Super Avenger to Breitling ADs for parts/service request or offer it as trade-in after asking to hold his side by side w/ the gen. There is no way those sales people can differentiate at arms length a gen from rep on any modern pam (or other super rep for that matter) and If they can they already knew these level of reps exist so it's a moot point. My favorite is the "they might confiscate it" line. I'd be so God damned amused with any sales person that tried that with me, I honestly don't know what I would do. I agreed that I should have stuck it in my pocket because in this case I still feel bad about having, if simply by omission of the truth, lied to the sales guy in what was an otherwise great watch fanatic exchange. A watch friendship developed (oh God I can already see the snide/gay posts now) and you don't lie to your friends. Despite what a number of people have alluded to, I am 100% sure he in fact did not know it was a rep and "didn't call me out on it because I was a customer, or whatever blah blah blah". No poster on here, regardless of their perception or experience can make a claim to any idea of what went on there except myself. And I can tell you, he looked at my watch, thought it looked great, commented on it, we went back to talking about the Chopard that was the current focus for both of us, end of discussion. The guy works around millions of dollars of watches every day. He didn't care worth a shit what I was wearing other than thinking it was a nice looking watch, as any of us would the same. I don't feel bad about wearing the watch and it being seen. I'm strictly being selfish saying I should have stuck it in my pocket as the sales guy is oblivious to this whole situation. machiavegli 6 Posted November 14, 2013 I'm gonna make a confession. I brought a friend into one of the best PAM AD's. Wearing one of my #1 reps. My 1:1 PAM 57c by Davidsen on a Toro strap. We were picking a model for him to buy (rep through an AD of course!)... The AD salesman (a collector himself) took the rep off my wrist, "oohed" and "aahed", lavished praise on it, talked about how older PAM cases like my "c" series compared to the 1950's and 1940's cases, and compared them literally side by side. Overall, mine looked better. Thx, DSN. I don't care about all the flamers on this thread, but most dealers and even watchmakers have NO idea where the rep game is now. The AD looked more likely to steal it than confiscate it from me. WE worry about tint on date windows. AD's worry about selling watches. Customs don't worry -- period.
