Running seconds at six configuration is not good with the rep movement. Basically, the extra gears needed cause the movement to fail. :(

If I understand what I have read, the seconds@6 gear does not have a jewel bearing in the rep movement and the excess friction can cause it to fail.

It may work 6 days, it may work 6 years, it's a bit of an unknown. Odyseus here started a thread about life of the secs@6, to see if there is any common lifespan for a majority of owners, worth searching it out and other threads about the secs@6

There's a TD on RWI called intime and a watch repair co in the UK with the same name.

I know nothing about intime.co.

I think you can't. But lets test your skills: did you ever open a watch with 7750 movement, removed the movement from case, removed the hands, removed the dial - and now the trick: put it all together again so that it is still working?!? If you say "NO" to any of these questions, you can't.

I think you need to follow the advice above to read, read. Then read some more. The 'Swiss' ETA movement isn't a chronograph movement.

Hey, I've got an IWC Portuguese that doesn't work properly. It came F'ed up from the dealer. He agreed to take it back but I just haven't got around to sending it back yet. If you want I could sell it to you signifigantly discounted and you could take it to a watchsmith to have it fixed and probably save some money overall. It's up to you. I'll send you pics and describe to you exactly what's wrong with it if you want. It runs, just not well.

Might be worth it if you are in the continental US?

Let me know.
