Build Progress "Little Egiziano" aka 6153

Recommended Posts

Andei3000

Hey guys,

I'm going to get engaged on the 14th of August (therefore I bought my better half a nice ring of course)

Now here's the problem - she is going to have a really nice piece to wear everyday and I'm going to have

nothing afterwards (except sensational sex)

First thought was to get a watch which would be believable to have and which has a nice background to it.

Those are the Pre-Vs I already have (201A, 202A, 207A and a contemporary 177H).

I find myself not wearing my first rep a Fiddy anymore, doesn't feel comfortable in my mind (the 47mm wears

awesome on the wrist though) I do hope you understand what I meant :thumbsup2:

Second thought was something instead of the fiddy and with a 47mm Luminor Case and then it hit me:

I want something like this real bad!

Now it's your turn to help me with this out, budget would be 500 to 600 € to build this 6154 (less would be better of course - I'm no movement fetishist - so a plain 6794 would do it)

Parts which would be needed:

Crown (????)

Case (could be already shaped in the cushion form, or a hint how to shape it)

Plexi (Corteberts outcoming plexi should be really awesome, or are there alternatives?)

Dial (should be ready to put in, I can't imagine how to create those radium rings on it)

Hands (dont know which ones are the best)

Caseback (a closed one would be nice)

Movement (I really don't care, although a cheap 8-day would be nice)

Strap (would think of a gunny to fit the watch)

Springbars (where to source them, how should they lookalike?)

Feel free to add to the list, maybe someone could estimate prices as they have similar builds done.

Conclusion for this watch would be:

an almost 1:1 watch on the outside (I know lug shape and case shape are really hard to recreate) with a cheap heart.

So please help me looking good next to my future wife ;)

thanks in advance

Andei

Andei,

You've got it all wrong. The sensational sex is what you get BEFORE you are married.........

But good luck with the watch.

This is what I found out so far:

Crown: DSN has to be modded according to psocs

Case: either silix or DSN

Plexi: Okabums plexi - seems a great one and the price is awesome too

Movement: still some cheapy molnija or something else???

Caseback: gordon, as it seems he makes them for the silix and DSN cases

Dial: I don't have a fuckin clue??? Ross doesn't make them anymore

Hands: not shure either

So, a shameless bump for me maybe one of the pros may chime in and give me a helping hand :)

14th is coming along and I look so shitty without a 6154 :)

Thanks in advance

Andei

Andei - talk to Gordon about the dial too - and either he or Okabum should be able to help you with hands...

Almost all parts are here, now it's time to:

-shave and age the case

-mod the crown (add inner bevel)

-polish the Plexi

-install and age the hands

-transfer the high CP from the other moli

-add some vintage springbars

going on holiday next saturday so Dremel and sandpaper is coming with me :D

Here are some quick pics:

That looks awesome so far ;)

I'm thinking about a Cali 3646 build but knowing where to start and not wanting to end up with a pile of parts and no clue what to do is my main worry :D

Also, costs...

Would you mind sharing your outlay so far? I don't mind by PM if you don't want to openly post :)

Dial is from Nightwatch - pics don't do it justice - it's awesome in real life.
