JohnG 41 Posted January 15, 2009 So I want to use the proceeds of my upcoming sales to buy an SMP. I am letting the SSD go so I want a sporty watch and I have seen a version of the SMP that I love - the Olympic edition. Unfortunately, the rep has incorrect subdial spacing because unlike the plain vanilla SMP, this version doesn't come with the Valjoux 7750-based movement, but rather the 3303... Furthermore, the gen comes on 20mm Planet Ocean rubber, and the reps are sold on SS. So... I could do a low budget less accurate rep - because the Olympic 7750 goes for less ($198 at TT) and I could get a rep 20mm PO strap from Ioffer for no more than $30... or... I could get the very accurate SMP Chrono with black dial (I like better than blue if it's on rubber), new "red Seamaster" text, and put gen rubber on it... Gen Olympic: Rep from TT: OR Here is the rep black SMP Chrono (around $240 if I get it cheaper than Josh - shouldn't be hard) Gen SMP rubber ($192) Gen SMP deployant for rubber ($156) Here is that strap on a non-chrono SMP: THOUGHTS? AllergyDoc 40 Posted January 15, 2009 My preference would be the SMP chrono. I don't care for the funky numerals and oversized Omega logo on the Olympic watch. Gives it a "whimsical" appearance. The rubber strap and deployment buckle look great. Although I like the bracelet in the SMP I had, it would look great on rubber, too. The SMP is supposed to be one of the best reps, appearance wise. The only issue I'm aware of is the problem with the crown screwing down. When I sold mine it was barely catching on the threads. I've read it's also a problem with the gen. I've also heard good things about the newer Omega rep rubber strap.
oscarmadfish 0 Posted January 15, 2009 i think the strap on a non-chrono SMP looks great and so does the watch the sub dial spacing on the olmpic reps spoil it
JohnG 41 Posted January 15, 2009 Well then I could get the good SMP Chrono and put either a) rep 20mm PO rubber (with tang buckle) on it - about $30 OR gen 20mm SMP rubber with gen SMP deployant (about $350) I REALLY like the gen option - deployant is way sexy, but holy shit! For that I could buy myself an IWC Ingy!!!! Why don't they rep more of this shit.... the answer is that few people wear this combo (hard to even find pics of that strap/deployant on google).... but shit, it is sweet. trailboss99 997 Posted January 16, 2009 Never did go for SMPs that much. Execpt for this one of cause. If I had had a few grand burning a hole in my pocket the day you posted this 'un you would have cost me a lot of money. Wish they would rep it! Out of your two the second one would be my pick for the same reasons as stated above by AD. Personaly I have allways prefered the SOH so don't give much weight to my opinion. Col. EDIT: Arrh! Not so shure I do wish for a rep now. It's a 3303 What I wish for is a rep MVT with the correct dial spaceing first.

There is a rep of it - I have seen it on Ioffer but it is a 21j $108 dollar piece of junk (as far as I can tell from the photos). But if they made a really nice rep of it, even with incorrect subdial spacing, with a 7750, I would buy it. It is really sweet.
