Brightlight 0 Posted July 13, 2010 However, before opening the door to anyone, sneak a look out the window to ensure there are no armed customs officials staked out around your property. It is not widely known, but they tend to shoot on sight for serious offences such as importing counterfeit watches. It is best in this case to strip naked, and beore opening the door fully, push a white flag (a sheet tied to a broomstick, some of these armed customs officers do not have the best eyesight) through the letterbox, then open the door fully and stand with your hands on your head until told to exit. This may mean you will be taken into custody, not killed, and sentenced to 30 years. But don't worry, you'll be out in 15. Alternatively, ask your wife to answer the door, and then blame everything on her afterwards. Not only is this effective, it is also cheaper than divorce. colin 0 Posted July 13, 2010 I have had customs sting me before on things from the USA.....VAT, Import duty, handling fee ETC.
Brightlight 0 Posted July 13, 2010 I have had customs sting me before on things from the USA.....VAT, Import duty, handling fee ETC. Yes, it seems to happen totally at random unless the stuff is shipped DHL or FEDEX in which case you always get charged VAT at the very least plus handling. A lot depends on what amount is declared if it is randomly picked. I got stung for around twenty pounds last year on a gen DJ case from the US but they declared the value high. Jonnybaws 5,280 Posted January 22, 2015 I know you're all interested... Don't pretend your not... Anyhoo, status change... Good news, its been released by Customs Bad news, do appear to be hit by a charge, don't know how much, however with the value of the package marked as $50, that shouldn't be too much.. And, given the contents of the package, I don't think I'll be contesting the charge As you were
