greg_r 83 Posted July 14, 2010 Most of the attention on the rep boards goes to the high-end reps - the v2 SOHs, the 'Ultimate' Fiddys, the 'corrected bezel' DSSD. That's all well and good, but it has to be said that you can buy one hell of a watch for as little as $150. Yes, they may not be perfect, but they can most certainly be good value for money. Amongst my favourite watches are a fantasy 'mini' Egiziano (47mm instead of 60mm) costing just under $150, a PAM 305 homage costing $75 and a Rolex DeepSea that costs only $129. Let's celebrate the great cheapies in this thread. Post your photos and show the newbies just how good a cheap watch can be! To start off, this is the first watch I mentioned - and one of my favourite watches regardless of cost: the mini Egi. Can you believe this watch cost less than $150? Okay guys - let's see what you've got. The only limitation is that the watch must cost $150 or less.

JoeyB 0 Posted July 14, 2010 This is a great watch and it came in a 'Komrade Happy Meal' back in the late `80s when they first opened in Moscow. OK, so it's too early to thread-crap, yet. This GMT came from Getat for $85.00 usd, with the case.

There's a lot of cheap junk around, but there are some real gems too. As you'll see (I hope) from this thread.

JoeyB 0 Posted July 14, 2010 Robert's PrestigeWatchCo has 4 Omega Planet Ocean watches with the new ceramic insert for $129 each. And they have a sapphire crystal with double AR. If you send in $25 bucks to greg_r and become a RWG VIP you can get them for $99 each. This is an incredible deal. Planet Ocean

Baldrick 1 Posted July 14, 2010 and many more all under $150.00., as greg says, you do NOT have to spend a lot of money to acquire a nice watch. when I first came on the older forums such as TRC, we had very few 'super reps', most members made do with what was available and took them for what they were worth, just nice looking watches, 99.9% of the general public haven't got a scooby doo when it comes to the flaws that we obsess about, I'd be glad to see a return to members getting more satisfaction with the reps at this end of the scale, rather than all the high expectations and disappointments at the opposite end, a GREAT THREAD, thanks Greg for posting it, I'd like to see this thread develop into a good going discussion about the relative merits of inexpensive reps, if truth be told, NONE of my peer group know anything about watches, other than how to spell Rolex and the fact that it should sweep instead of ticking. MOST OF THESE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FROM ANY OF THE GOOD DEALERS, such as Narikaa and Mary etc.. ******************************************************************************** ************************************************************** $125.00 $99.00 $129.00 $145.

GC 4,537 Posted July 14, 2010 Some beautiful watches there Mr G, I like the AP ROO, is that quartz? Absolutely. One of only two quartz watches in my collection, it's such a nice watch with great wrist presence that even with flaws it's a keeper! And I totally agree about the sub $150 market, so many wonderful watches that if we stop obsessing about tiny flaws, we can enjoy a plethora of watches in our collections. I also believe there is a place for SuperReps but I like to keep those open for the long sought after "grails".

AllergyDoc 40 Posted July 14, 2010 About 70 funny British money: I think Madcat... got this for about $120 new from Mary. In person it looks gen, IMO. Superlumed MM from Getat for about $110: $99 from Robert (but on a $120 strap in this photo): Both of these were under $90, shipped, from Lawrence. I think they're $92 now. Baldrick 1 Posted July 14, 2010 a man after my own heart Mr G, I'd rather have 5x really nice reps than one super rep, don't get me wrong as you say there is still a place for the super reps, but you can get just as muuch enjoyment from some of the less expensive ones, as I think was demonstrated recently with the PP Sky Moon that Reg was selling, some piece of kit for the money ..and of course, let's not forget some love for the ladies in our lives, very inexpensive presents for dem! AustinTech 0 Posted July 14, 2010 Keeping things under $150 also keeps the rep-game fun. Not a lot of money on the line so worry over quality and nit-pickyness is low.
