How the photo was made.

I used F11 for a dept of field that feels ok. I dont remeber shutter time, but you can see on the seconds hand about how many seconds :D

I dont have a macro lens so I used a nikkor 80-200 telezoom.

The UPO was placed on a serving dish with a wave pattern.

The reflection on the wave pattern make the UPO appears as if in water.

in Photoshop some brightness and contrast adjust.

The serving plate is old and have quite a few scratches... so these are removed also in Photoshop.

I used a photo tent and this is how it looked when taking the shot.

On the actual shot I only used one spotlight, but here two spotlights are lit.

Nice shot! I'll confess that I'd like it better without the lettering, but maybe that's just me :D

Thanks, I'm not a very good photographer but I think this one came out nice.

I got really happy when I figured out that this plate could be used for cool reflection effects on the watch.

Yea, the logo has clown feet. But the UPO has clown feet to

Happy feet are a myth, Omega used happy feet on a lot of their dials and logos, the original Ploprof had happy feet, in fact if you look at the genuine PP neoprene box that it comes in, it has a 'happy feet' logo !

PS, very nice photo debian, well thought out and executed, personally I like the logo, congratulations!

AFAIK happy feet is on the painted logos. The applied ones doesn't have happy feet.

Still a bloody nice photo

Very nice photo, especially the wave pattern reflection!

If I was to be really really picky I'd say fix up the black areas which look like blotches compared to the slightly greyer background (you might not be able to see them depending on how/if your monitor is calibrated). The light reflection on the crystal looks like a smudge mark though it isnt!

The light reflection on the crystal I'm not that happy with... I can't see the difference between the black and the gray here. but I know what you mean and will have a look at it.

I would beg to differ on that!

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it, the long term benefits of sunscreen.....

Oooops, wrong advice

my advice would be to try and make your image larger, give it a little more pop, there's a lot of acreage round the watch, you can crop to make it bigger and still have room for the logo, don't worry about reflections, they can add drama to the photo, I like the wave pattern and the fact that you didn't have to PS the pattern is even better, overall it's a great shot, just on the small side for me.

I calibrated my monitor a bit and updated the picture and fixed up the black areas. I replaced the original post with the updated image.

Here is the completely unedited pic if that could be interesting.

Goon

That's clever using the dish like that. I would never have thought of that.

(off to hit some second hand shops in search of a black ceramic dish!)
