The Challenge of the Challenge has been Conquered!

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to share with you my challenges I had with The Challenge.

About 3 months ago, I was wearing my Challenge on cool X-stitched leather strap

when the unthinkable happened; it came OFF the strap! I thought everything was okay.

The crystal was not scratched, no dings or dents and most importantly, it was still ticking!!

So it went back on the bracelet and into the box.

About a month later, an occasion presented itself that required its use. When I went to sent the time, the crown came off.

I cracked open the caseback to have a look and found the stem had broken into three pieces. After a quick search, I was

off to the grocery store for Powered Alum.

So after a month soaking in the alum solution, I was able to attach a replacement stem from a donor movement and with the

help of a stem extended fit perfectly!

Back into the movement and when I started to wind it, this happen...........

The screw head sheared off and the gear came loose. The donor ST-2130

This movement has given up its stem and date wheel, and will be giving up it's winding bridge. The swap was fairly straight forward

and simple and I have few pics of the process....

First the rotor comes off

Then the auto winding bridge

The mainspring has to be let down. This done by moving the catch out of the way allowing the spring to wind down.

This gear comes off and then bridge can be removed

Assembly is the reverse and after everything was said and done, The Challenge has been conquered!!

Thanks for Looking!

I have been in the club since Feb '13. You joined a little later. :giggle:

I think we are some of the few that actually wear our Challenge on a regular basis.

The stem broke off inside the crown. I read a couple threads about using Alum to dissolve the broken piece.

The reason it took a month is I kept forgetting about it and the solution evaporated.
