2836-2 Asian Clone movement running rough, & stopping - Fixed

A rep I have been modding for a fellow forum member, its movement decided to throw a wobbly. I first noticed something strange with this movement in the way of it would stop if you put the slightest of pressure on the rear auto wind mech.

Then whilst checking its running on the timegrapher, it was all over the place, so knew there was something amiss with the movement somewhere, so decided to investigate, and share my findings.

Stripped the movement down to where I thought the problem stemmed from. The escapement. Reason being, whenever I touched the gear that it mates with, the movement would start running, and upon closer inspection with my loupe, I could see the escapement top gear moving away from its top jewel.

And I was right, the escape gear pivot had snapped off in the top plate jewel.

Here's a photo showing the broken one, and a new Escape ETA wheel..

Replaced the broken one for the new, and the movement is now running like a champ :)

Just goes to show how brittle the metal is on these clones.

I had this same problem with one of my watches. Swapped out the gear and has been running like a champ!

WOW SSTEEL, that is amazing. You seem to be quite a wiz at fixing watches. Wish I lived much closer to you. Well done on spotting something so small was broken.

My father's Laureus Ingy had the same issue. I replaced the movement for a SW220.
