Pharmo 33 Posted January 18, 2014 Just bought a Seiko I have been after for a long while, the Seiko "spork" These were very popular at one stage with a limited run and discontinued in 2011. Since then the price for these have really gone up. One in Coventry, UK sold on eBay in December for £387. Seiko SRP043K1 is known as spork - probably because the model number can be rearranged to nickname spork as in (SP0RK) and also the watch is really a mix between a diver and a pilot watch dial (so spork as in a mix between a spoon and a fork) Very solid watch, stunning build quality and feels great on the wrist. The lume is fantastic, same as a monster if not slightly better in my opinion. Anyway enough of the history lesson. I managed to source one on another forum and it arrived yesterday!!!! and here are some eye candy......

Pharmo 33 Posted January 18, 2014 thanks chaps, I truly am amazed at how well it wears for a heavy watch.
scorpion 0 Posted January 18, 2014 Sweet watch - i was spending a fair bit of time on ebay bidding for various versions of these but every time it looked like i was about to bag a bargain the price went ballistic and went up way over what i thought was reasonable. i gave up in the end and settled on an Orange Monster. Seems Seikos hold their 2nd hand value well.
Member X 91 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Congrats! I love my Spork - wears really well, not too large, not too small, and built like a tank The added bonus was I managed to get very lucky and pick one up at a reduced price just as they were discontinued - I'm so glad I did! I reckon they are keepers for a long time, none of the newer Seikos seem to be proper automatic unless it's a dress watch or a $$$$ Grand Seiko... I see you got a modded seconds hand - did it have the crystal replaced with a sapphire one as well? Edited January 18, 2014 by Member X

Mr Stubbs 0 Posted January 18, 2014 I see you got a modded seconds hand - did it have the crystal replaced with a sapphire one as well? If that's a mod, Seiko should have made them all that way. It really brings the face to life. Congratulations on a brilliant acquisition Pharmo! ps: It makes my orange Monster look like a Franck Muller Crazy Hours in comparison. Pharmo 33 Posted January 18, 2014 Thanks Mr S. Yep - love the red second hand. The owner was really generous to email me to say he has a red and original white second hand for this which he is sending me Cant wait to try the yellow second hand on it! drumike102 0 Posted February 10, 2014 I looked into this as my first seiko but was deterred by the price and ended up with the cheaper skx007 which I love. Nice piece, maybe someday I'll bite the bullet.
