Martinjogs 0 Posted January 25, 2014 Surveying the wreckage of my tool box I find many parts, and partially built watches that never quite made it, so I've been using these mostly to practice. Today, I decided to start putting some of the, as yet, unused bits together to see if they might form a coherent whole, no attempt at accuracy here, just turning the bits into a watch that works and looks okayish. This is my first attempt, and with apologies to any previous owners. A Rolex vintage mutt...
onionbag 1 Posted January 25, 2014 The overall effect is not unpleasing.
Martinjogs 0 Posted January 25, 2014 Mongrel number two...and hopefully not a pile of poo! Now, if I can get the damned seconds hand back on...

jingo.smile 0 Posted January 25, 2014 Both look great Martin! But whats with the first one? No movement? Or is the dial too small?
Martinjogs 0 Posted January 26, 2014 Both look great Martin! But whats with the first one? No movement? Or is the dial too small? No, it is a single line red sub that has had treatment to turn the dial tropical, to be fair to modder this was an test experiment for the process to use on another watch, anyway the effect is overdone but still kinda cool. It just looks as if there is a gap but the movement inside works a treat, smooth as butter. I may try to source a new dial for it.
trailboss99 994 Posted January 26, 2014 Now, if I can get the damned seconds hand back on... Different 21J movement? It could be you have used a MVT with a short canon pinion in which case it will never go back on.
Monty010 1 Posted January 26, 2014 Have to say that it's not that Bad looking. Both of them and it's funnier to use all the parts anyway. Just letting them lie in the box is a waste
J!m 289 Posted January 26, 2014 I have one for sale now that was sort of the same- I did buy some parts to complete it but wanted to complete something rather than have parts knocking around. I have a TC movement and a sterile dial I may build up to sell as well. I need cash as all my builds have turned into high dollar ones!
mach19 0 Posted February 20, 2015 The first one with its "extremely used look alike tropical dial" looks very nice well done
