greg_r 85 Posted January 21, 2009 Idle curiosity on my part, but I have two questions for you all. 1. What is your favourite of the watches (rep or gen) you currently own and why? Pics should be included 2. What is your grail watch - the one you'd buy if you won the lottery? Pics again, please ******** I'll start the ball rolling: 1. Of the watches I currently own, there's two or three which could claim to 'favourite' status, but the one of those I wear the most is my PAM111h. Bought from Ruby last summer for around $300, it has double AR, Swiss Unitas 6497 with swan neck regulator and is just one of those watches I love to look at. It works well with jeans, but if on a brown croco strap, also looks pretty damn smart with a suit. It just seems to 'fit', you know? It's not only my favourite rep, but I think I prefer it to any of the gens I've owned in the past. 2. My Grail watch. No surprise, this one, as it's the one in my avatar. If I won the lottery I'd be buying a Vacheron Constantin Malte Perpetual Retrograde Calendar - platinum with white face. Not only is it, IMHO, the most elegant watch I've ever seen, but complications fascinate me and this one is more elaborate than most. Price? A cool $63,000 and change... In the meantime - until I win that lottery, I'll have to make do with my rep VC
alphakazi 0 Posted January 21, 2009 My favorite watch I currently own is a Gen Navitimer... because it was my 1st real watch back more than 20 years ago - love at 1st sight as for my rep - the Omega Seamaster Casino Royal 007 on stainless steel - the look, the weight, the quality - nuff said as for my watch fantasy... Vacheron Constaintin Tour de l'lle Designed in 2005, this collectible piece is also the most complicated double-face watch, and only produced in a limited edition of seven. This 834-part watch took over 10,000 man-hours to be made and features an 18-carat silver gold dial with a hand-sewn alligator leather band and pink gold buckle. It touts an original combination of horological complications and astronomical indications forming 16 different points, including a minute repeater, sunset time, perpetual calendar, second time zone, and a tourbillon device. Price: $1.5 million
greg_r 85 Posted January 21, 2009 Cool grail watch - a little too blingy for me, but I can certainly see why you lust after it
AllergyDoc 40 Posted January 21, 2009 I'm afraid my favorite changes from time to time. Mostly it's the new watches. Currently it's this monstrosity: I just got it back from Sead after it quit running. Can't wear it to the office on patient days, or to church, but it goes to the gym and because of the excellent lume on the hands I can wear it at night. As for a "grail" watch, it would probably be a white gold Daytona. A cheap $23,000.
greg_r 85 Posted January 21, 2009 That Graham is one of those machines like an Apache gunship. Ugly as hell, but kinda cool anyhow. Probably useful to scare small children with, too Couldn't see myself ever wearing one, though.
JohnG 41 Posted January 21, 2009 Two Rep Grails - IWC Ingy... Omega SMP Chrono, pic below is blue, but I would like black (hard to find nice pics of it in black)... One Gen Grail Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Coaxial Chrono:
Massimo 53 Posted January 21, 2009 Favourite is probably my Omega Constellation, calibre 751, the first Omega movement with day and date. It's pretty inside and out: Grail watch is a double red Sea Dweller, but having seen some of the stuff in this thread, I may research that a bit more. JohnG 41 Posted January 21, 2009 Is there a finer movement and watch maker in the world? Pure class and genius. If Oscar Wilde were alive he would wear something like that... ... as he pranced around naked with younger men.
bme 4 Posted January 21, 2009 Is there a finer movement and watch maker in the world? Pure class and genius. If Oscar Wilde were alive he would wear something like that... ... as he pranced around naked with younger men. He may have been a poof but he could conjure up these............... America had often been discovered before Columbus, but it had always been hushed up. Work is the curse of the drinking classes. The truth is rarely pure and never simple. One can always be kind to people about whom one cares nothing. The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it ...and especially for you JohnG......We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. Luthier 1 Posted September 25, 2010 Dreaming about this watch for many years, in 2008 almost bought one, brand new for $14,000, but at the last moment seller changed his mind... OMEGA Cosmic Moonphase... Have great replica, from extremely small run - 5 only were made, but always wanted genuine...
JoeyB 0 Posted September 25, 2010 I like that. Depending on how accurate the rep is, and knowing Omega uses ETA movements, I'd think having a one of five watch would make it very special.
mondeov6 0 Posted September 25, 2010 My favourite... for now .... is my blue SOH from Mary... My grail watch.....hmmmmm.... I really would not mind this one so.... this Jörg Schauer it is...... very stylish I think!!
Silverspeed 10 Posted September 25, 2010 My favourite rep the Santos, great size (wears bigger then a PAM111), very elegant dial and of the best square case watches If money was no object...I'd buy this in a minute, it has it all.....Rose Gold , hornback leather strap, big enough to not go unnoticed
speedzmaster 0 Posted September 25, 2010 Tudor 9411 Snowflake Submariner and Tudor 7032 Monte Carlo Chronograph. I have them both.
Luthier 1 Posted September 25, 2010 I like that. Depending on how accurate the rep is, and knowing Omega uses ETA movements, I'd think having a one of five watch would make it very special. Replica is quite good, just wrong dial color. Genuine powered with in-house 31J movement with 72 hours power reserve.
