themoo-12 0 Posted August 6, 2010 I've read that using a drop or 2 of synthetic oil on watch parts is quite effective. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm only familiar with grease for waterproofing thanks!
GC 4,517 Posted August 7, 2010 I believe there is a particular grade of oils specific for watch movts which are synthetic. If you are asking if you can use some other kind of oils for a watch movt I'm sure they would work but it is a very delicate process and just any synthetic (i.e. WD40...) would probably not produce an optimal result. Brightlight 0 Posted August 7, 2010 As GC says you should only use oils recommended by the movement maker, either natural or synthetic. For details, see following - http://www.cousinsuk.com/PDF/categories/2_Oil_Chart.pdf If however you are talking about waterproofing seals, use silicon grease, it is easily obtained and is the correct thing.
