Hey Jules. Picked up a similar one for those exact reasons. Should be easier than trying to mess with the lume. Im going for a more of a tropic dial so it should work in my favor. Although its on the back burner till I finish the Tudor.

Hi Jon. I use pics from Sheartime as a starting point to mods for vintage rollies. They have excellent resolution pic that can be zoomed.

For your double red SD, here's a link to a '72 1665. Click on any pic to enlarge then you can use the pic nav arrows to go through them.

I used to have one of those...It was one of only a few of my reps that ever got commented on...A guy once told me:" you ought to get that watch serviced...the yellowed numbers look shitty"....Really!! :giggle: :giggle:

Looks good, though the lume isn't dirty enough to make this convincing as a vintage piece.

I would get mine with white lume !

I wish I knew more about them, but I do like how it looks. From my perspective, go easy on the vintageizing :)

Like a 40 year old watch that has been well-cared for ;)

I think the beat up ones look like they are trying too hard.

Here is what you are looking for.

mods: standard vintage low puff lume job. The hands are dulled and slightly aged. Dial has mildly patina. Used matte coat for the dial. The insert is lightly aged. The pearl is relumed with vintage lume to match dial. Silver DWO and a ETA 2846 movement with 21.600bph.

To bleach the bezel, take it off and hit is slightly with a abrasive then put in beach and watch it like a hawk, some bleach quickly others take time. Wash it with water whe you want it to stop

To age hands either relume or age with coffee in the over at 325 for an 30

Mins or so

The lume in that watch international version actually looks pretty good already as do the hands, do the bezel and your golden

This one not so much.

Project X Heritage w some ageing for that older look

Original case was the SA3135V2 Sub C, reshape the case to have a thinner profile and perhaps most importantly..lugholes

Dial has been relumed to a nice vintage off-white cream (Project X used a really ugly fake yellow lume).

Vintagized case to make it look like what a heritage Sub would look like 20-30 years from now. So it is intentionally weathered and appear as if it's been polished several times.

Movement is an Swiss ETA 2834. Dial is a relumed BP no date. Second hand has been lacquered white. Platinum mod on numbers and red triangle filled.

8mm crown and tube courtesy of Athaya.

Guys disclaimer I bought these like this, I did not do the work.

My RWG is sometimes called the sleepy RWG but the guys are busy doing stuff like this not posting. I am well aware there are guys here that do this, we just have a lot more self modders/tinkerers in our ranks. To be honest sometimes drives me crazy, I love to talk about Seikos other Gens that are in a let us say attainable price range, not much interest there.

I also have some very heavily modded Pams from the guys, great work but forget the price you could buy the most expensive Rep Pam from a dealer and have money left maybe for another before you got one of those.
