Redline8k 0 Posted August 14, 2010 Im looking for some info on elgin watch movements for a vintage 6152/4 case. Id like to know what size I should be looking for and where a good place to purchase. Ive looked on ebay and there are so many. Id also like to know what I have to do the the case to make it fit. Im particularly interested in this style not only for looks but because I live in Elgin Il where elgin watch factory was. I think it would be a cool conversation piece. thanks -nick
sconehead 5 Posted August 14, 2010 10 size, maybe 12 size too for a 6152, just make sure you go for a stem-wind, stem-set type movement. I'll see if I can find the movement measurements for you, I'm sure I've got them bookmarked somewhere... Pocket watches come with various types of winding/setting which include, 1. Key-wind, key-set movements 2. Stem-wind, stem-set movements 3. Stem-wind, lever-set movements 4. Stem-wind, pin-set movements I seem to remember JohnG bought a vintage Elgin lever-set movement but don't know if he could mod it to work in a watch project of his...John? edit: here's the link, http://www.pocketwatchsite.com/size.html
