Welcoming the noobs 101

Found this forum via r/reptime. Started with helping a friend in the US look for a watch here in China and my research has led me here. Looking forward to seeing all this forum has to offer. At first, my buddy offered me a watch of my choosing for helping him out and I politely declined. But as I get deeper I'm feeling the itch get stronger and I may have to take him up on the offer.

Hi All!  Like others here, I stumbled onto this site while doing my online research.  I'm curious how close replicas are to the real deal, especially since I do have genuine luxury watches.  I love that watches are so complimentary to a man's style so the option to have a few more unique/stylish timepieces sounds very appealing.  I look forward to reviewing the posts here in hopes of learning more about what's worth spending money on....of if replicas are even for me.  I don't mind saving longer for the real deal, but if I can get 10-15 different timepieces for the price of 1 genuine watch, I'm all ears.

Thank you all for the information you have bestowed upon this site.  Like manybefore me, I would be stuck with a busted half built watch if it wasn’t for the knowledge and experience of some of our great members.  Thank you.

Noob here, from England,

just saying hello, and wanting to enjoy my foray into watches of the 'twilight kind'.

My collection is very small, 1x Seiko Submariner style, 2x Rotary, and a Casio calculator watch classic version. And I a have a Tag Monaco of the 'twilight kind', the dials do not work properly, unfortunately.  But, my heart wants a big collection. Thought I would share, please don't laugh.:beer3:

oh and my main reason for joining here, in particular, I have fallen in love with the Zenith El Primero Calander.

As we grow, there are all kinds of questions that the noobs seem to ask. Instead of one of us trying to search our way through all the pertinent threads and posting them in the shoutbox, I figured I would start a thread and include all the basic info a noob needs to read. This will be a sticky and therefore quick to find and post so that all are in one place.

Hi everyone - first post for me and new to the rep world.

Started looking at reps as been on a wait list for a Daytona for 6 years and a bit fed up now, so looking to find a good one to tide me over. Have a few Gen watches (Rolex, Tag, Tissot, Gucci) and one rep (a dodgy Navitimer bought in Bangkok - but still going after 4 years). Great info so far on the site so thanks to all those who have contributed as it certainly helps people like me.

JF is a manufacturer (factory) of the watch. F stands for a factory.
