Help! A7750 Chrono won't stop

Recommended Posts

Garyun

Hello Everyone,

Need a bit of help here.

I received the new Navitimer 01 from a TD here. When I received the watch, I noticed that the chrono was going..... so I took it out and pushed the stop @2, but nothing... not click or nothing.... the pusher would just go in with no resistance.

The chrono will not stop. I have not pushed the reset or done anything else because I know how finicky these movements are...... Does anyone know how to fix this?

All other functions work fine with the watch minus the chrono.... and the watch is really beautiful.

I'd appreciate some input.

Best regards,

Darren

On one of my chronos, I really have to press the start button hard to stop it. I'm sure you tried, but just want to make clear that these are not quartz....usually require a bit more force to engage.

That said, I had a 7750 fail with the very same problem, the main chrono seconds hand kept rotating :( I think that the chrono levers within the movement came out of alignment, so pushing on the buttons had no effect :(

You are probably onto something there John, and it does sound like this movement may have loose levers.

@OP either contact your TD, or a friendly rep watchmaker my friend.

Take off your caseback, then look for the chrono pusher (nr 7 in my pic)

Then locate this part:

It's lying on top of the pusher.

The end has to be flat against the back of this part:

Most of the time the "spring" of the pusher just came off at the end, refit it and you're done. If this is not the case you have to reset your chrono workings on the movement :)

Joran,

I had the caseback off, when I push on the pusher, that piece does move in... but it seems like it comes up short... and it's not engaging anything.

I was watching this, http://www.eta.ch/swisslab/7750/7750.html

Seems like the Chronograph Cam 55.200 does not engage.

I've also tried pushing very hard, and nothing....

Not sure if any of this makes sense.....

Take a photo for us, a macro photo of that area of your movement please.

I had exactly this when I reassembled a Portuguese once. It was the lever out of place like the guys say.

Very interesting thread, thanks for all the info guys. Fascinated to see the next bit.

This sounds like a similar problem with my 288. Great info.

Many thanks to those technically adept.

Try to move the lever a bit :

And check if this:

Is flat placed at the end of the lever, sometimes this part jumps off and will look like this:

Let us see some pics, I'll then show you how to fix it with a video :)

Success!!! after I took some pictures using a loop, watching this video http://www.eta.ch/sw.../7750/7750.html I noticed that a piece was out of place.

I used some tweezers and gently pushed it back in.... and voila..... pushers all work perfectly now. Here is what it looks like now.

Thank you all for your input.... hopefully this helps some other members out as well.... super easy fix.

This has happened to mine...does this small piece just attach back on to the end of the lever or does it require fixing by a specialist watch smith???

I am completely rookie. Took a chance and got my first replica. It says on website: IWG Portuguese Chrono Swiss Valjoux Movement at 28800 vph. Got it today and immediately noticed chrono second hand is running and second on 6 is not running. Take a courage and hit stop/start button and nothing happened. Do it 3 times and nothing. With another level of courage hit the reset button and big surprise. Second at 6 went 5 seconds in two steps. Watch is running for 6 hours and accurate. So found this thread and read it. Third level of courage and opened back case unscrewing 4 screws and below is picture. Doesn't look anything as yours and doesn't look as a7550. I might be wrong as I just opened the case and nothing else. I am not ready to go any further. I would like if you could help me figure out. Is this chrono at all? Is it a7500 at all. Or what is it. Coudn't find any marks inside.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

PS: I tried to post pictures in 5 different format and it doesn't allow me any of extensions. What should I do?
