SSTEEL 0 Posted May 18, 2014 Servicing an A7750 movement for a customer this morning, and no wonder is wasn't running very well. Check out the amount of oil the rep factory has put in the main spring barrel. They must of filled way past the MAX level mark :lmao: Untitled by Micky.!, on Flickr Untitled by Micky.!, on Flickr Surprised there wasn't an oil leaks lol Untitled by Micky.!, on Flickr Shocking, but not surprising, the rep factories are always known for incorrect procedures :lmao:

KeNnY 29 Posted May 18, 2014 oh my, I remember some HBB Divers from V6 factory had too much oil that the middle of dial started to peel off due to oil getting out from pinions
SSTEEL 0 Posted May 18, 2014 Stinks of WD40, so probably that instead of oil, oh dear.

trailboss99 994 Posted May 18, 2014 Shouldn't even be oil, should be grease in there . . . eeeew!

black263 228 Posted May 18, 2014 Wonder if this was a DOA, returned to the factory, and given a squirt of WD40 to get it going long enough to sell? But that's probably just cynical old me. :suck:
Vreds 0 Posted May 18, 2014 As trailboss said, there should be grease and not oil. I guess it's cheaper to just use same oil everywhere and you can hardly expect the factories to spend money where you cant see it, unfortunately :coffee2:
SSTEEL 0 Posted May 18, 2014 Shouldn't even be oil, should be grease in there . . . eeeew! Exactly, oil, or WD40 don't offer any braking whatsoever lol. I use Moebius 8217 or 8141 grease depending on the age of the spring.
trailboss99 994 Posted May 18, 2014 Well if you use a synthetic oil you can get away with one oil almost anywhere but it's always grease on a mainspring, oil does not do the same thing and won't prevent binding for the average length of time between services. What were they thinking?
black263 228 Posted May 18, 2014 I'm thinking the grease had aged and solidified, and this was how to free it up.
