Too Much Oil found in a A7750, you have to see this...

Servicing an A7750 movement for a customer this morning, and no wonder is wasn't running very well.

Check out the amount of oil the rep factory has put in the main spring barrel. They must of filled way past the MAX level mark :lmao:

Shocking, but not surprising, the rep factories are always known for incorrect procedures :lmao:

oh my, :) I remember some HBB Divers from V6 factory had too much oil that the middle of dial started to peel off due to oil getting out from pinions :)

Wonder if this was a DOA, returned to the factory, and given a squirt of WD40 to get it going long enough to sell? But that's probably just cynical old me. :suck:

As trailboss said, there should be grease and not oil. I guess it's cheaper to just use same oil everywhere and you can hardly expect the factories to spend money where you cant see it, unfortunately :coffee2:

Exactly, oil, or WD40 don't offer any braking whatsoever lol. I use Moebius 8217 or 8141 grease depending on the age of the spring.

Well if you use a synthetic oil you can get away with one oil almost anywhere but it's always grease on a mainspring, oil does not do the same thing and won't prevent binding for the average length of time between services. What were they thinking?

I'm thinking the grease had aged and solidified, and this was how to free it up.
