Seiko Srp493 stargate II

Recommended Posts

Pharmo

This arrived from HWG - as usual a true gent to deal with. From USA to UK in about 3-4 days. Many thanks my friend :)

I had thought about buying this piece for some time but never got around to it so when HWG listed it, I couldn't resist not buying it!

Must admit I thought it may be a bit chunky at 44mm - but actually wears just right. It has curved base and sits on the wrist really well and fits under shirt cuff nicely.

Has R36 movement so can hack and handwind.

Lovely blue dial that has to seen in real life to appreciate its beautiful colour tone.

Amazing nuclear Seiko lume as per Seiko standards.

Comes on a lovely bracelet (better quality Seiko monster type) and overall the watch feels and looks like a very expensive piece. Highly recommend this one to anyone sitting on the fence about buying one.

Wasn't too sure about the Cyclops but really like it now :)

Some eye candy....

That´s a really nice Seiko, have to check it out. The lume is fantastic, the orange goes very well and the part about hw and hacking is great. Enjoy it!

I like this model very much as well would prefer it to be 42mm tho.

Gotta love seiko's nuclear lume. Should be the industry standard!

To be honest mate it wears perfectly fine as a 44m even on my skinny wrists. I think it is the way the shape of the case is.

Now I'm wondering if I should have at least resized mine to try it on before selling...

Interesting, Somehow I used to be fine with 44mm watches and I still do with some exceptions to the rule like my PAM but for example my victorinox chrono xls which I love, now feels to big on my wrist. I agree tho that some cases provide a good fitting even in bigger sizes

Thanks Russ,

Honestly don't know! I have moved ALOT of pieces on as it was getting ridiculous. All four of my monsters (orange, black, snow and field) have either been sold or given to friend/family.

I seem to have become a seiko dealer to friends/family at the moment :giggle:

I think I will take some pics of my current seiko collection in the next few days...

Funny thing dat.

I tend to 'gift' watches to family and friends too.

Sometimes for no reason whatsoever................ :D

Lovely looking watch.

I've been looking at getting a good Seiko for some time now, the orange baby monsters being fairly high up my wish list, but the bezels just didn't seem quite right.

This one has everything, Lovely blue colour, great lume, waterproof, automatic and a fantastic bezel!!

Damn, looks like I've found my grail watch.

Just need to source one at a price I can afford now, easier said than done!
