This is the guy in question:

I paid roughly $600 CAD for this. On import today, there were taxes and duty for an additional $121 CAD on top. Youch!

Pics later, this is a holding thread for after lunch...

Wow.

Upon opening the box in blown away about how neat and solid everything feels. It doesn't help that I was resizing a cheapie YM just minutes before this :)

Ok I'll leave it in the box for later...

I'm ruined by this watch. Never mind that it cost $700 in the end, everything about it is just right from the size of the case to the wont-cut-your-hands finish. The power reserve complication just seals the deal. I forsee selling a few reps as this will get some wrist time. Thank you RWG for bringing me into the rep world and now the evolution to interesting gens...

Great looker and looks to gave AAA build quality. Are they part of Seiko?

Very nice indeed , classic lines . with a smart dressy look..

Build quality looks to be very good, crisp printing and everything nicely centered

Wear it in good health

It has been a subsidiary of the Seiko Corporation since 2001 and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Seiko in 2009. Orient is the largest producer of mechanical watches in Japan.

Amazing piece LG...you have tempted me to maybe treat myself to a orient star.

My only two niggles are the glossy dial face, wish it was matte, and the hour/second hands a tiny bit longer to reach the hash marks.

Not usually a fan of the pale face, but that is a fantastic specimen.

Wear it well my friend!

George.

That's very sharp mate, nice pick up. It looks quite large to me, maybe touching on 45mm?

39.5mm. It wears like ... 37 in real life. It's very comfortable. That Black Bay felt like a cheese grater.

Very nice, I like those retrograde watches- been looking at a Maurice Lacroix version, but they're not that cheap.
