ssh 0 Posted June 27, 2014 I am strongly looking at this watch as a possibility for my next purchase however I'm aware of the problems it has. i only intend to wear it occasionally - that been once a week. If it does break - can i return it to the TD just like any other watch or is it repairable? I'm looking at purchasing from Andrew Trusty Time
Ishmael 92 Posted June 27, 2014 What happens is you're fucked. Actually, the first thing I'd do is type "seconds at 6" or something like that in the search box. You'll get a bunch of threads that explain it.

Proctor 5 Posted June 27, 2014 It's still right twice a day Always look on the bright side of life. OP - at least those movements are easily found and cheap
ssh 0 Posted June 27, 2014 I like this watch so much though :(
rusty peters 0 Posted June 27, 2014 When it breaks, you are in a tight spot. There will be zero sympathy and people will not be very willing to work on them because they don't want to be on the other end of an implied warranty. If you love the style, learn to accept quartz. A7750s are bad enough. Don't trifle with a movement that was nodded to be even less reliable.
dingle 57 Posted June 27, 2014 Get the sec at 9 vintage version
Proctor 5 Posted June 27, 2014 Secs @ 9 is the way to go. Just go have a look in the VinRoPorn thread.
ssh 0 Posted June 27, 2014 im not a fan a huge fan of the vintage style. Its a nice style no denying that but it doesn't really suit me :( im in great situation. i guess i might just go without then
yippykayay2121 0 Posted June 27, 2014 im in the same boat as you ssh, i just bought 2 from silix, knowing that the 7750 will break eventually, i had to go with the cheapie 21j, you dont get the sec chrono working but at least not having to worry when it will die on you, also save you a few bucks too. just wish factory will fix this error in the future, would like to own a decent daytona, i love the looks of it but yeh cannot afford to pay big bucks for something doesnt intent to last. Daywatch 4 Posted June 27, 2014 1. buy 6 other reps 2. if You have $300 spare to risk, get it, use it once a week and never use the chrono - knowing it´s a time bomb, someday it just stops 3. Never buy this one as the first - You´ll end up without a watch

1littlegreen 1 Posted June 27, 2014 There are sec@9 versions of the modern Daytona available. Just have to tell the TD exactly what you want. Sec@6 are more accurate yes, but damn I hate fixing them. In fact, everyone buy one.....may put my daughter through college just fixing these. The movement can be modified to disable the sec@6 function, which does increase their life, but that costs money too. Up to you.
HeavyKrush 16 Posted June 27, 2014 What Kevin said, there is a modern secs@9. Oh, and a standard A7750 as a replacement won't have the proper hour counting wheel.

Dawg 24 Posted June 27, 2014 I like this watch so much though :( I had one with sec@6. It broke soon after I received it and I sent it back to Andrew. He 'fixed' it and it was back on my wrist after about 3 months. I wore it a lot for the next year and a half and it worked flawlessly. I recently sold it because I have got used to bigger watches.....must admit I do regret that. It is always a bit of a lottery with A7750 but I must admit I currently have 4 and have had many more over the years, and they have all worked well.
yippykayay2121 0 Posted June 27, 2014 Dawg, you actually got the rose gold in 7750 like in the photo?
Stuvetjee 17 Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) Perhaps mod it with extra jewels . Had luck snatching on on repgeek for $100. Seller claimed extra jewel mod, Send it straight away to Joran that confirmed the added jewels Edited June 27, 2014 by Stuvetjee
StormyNight 0 Posted June 27, 2014 Buy it anyway if you like it. They all "might break" one day. Wear it carefully and enjoy it here and now. You might die before it does.
ssh 0 Posted June 27, 2014 haha well some of you have dragged me back into considering buying it!! I do love the watch and its not my first purchase. Its relieving to hear the TD will take some responsibility ill be making my decision in the next week so if i buy it ill be definitely showing it off here
Wriggles 12 Posted June 27, 2014 10:10 is selling a secs@6 daytona 7750 in M2M for 60usd. Buy that as a drop in replacement for when the one in the watch inevitably dies. That way it lasts longer for only 60usd
NFleischer 4,355 Posted June 27, 2014 I've had 3- 2 broke. But 1 is more than 7 years old and still going strong. My preference is to freeze the second hand at 6, that will eliminate the problem. You can still use the chrono.
