They know that we have little ground to fight because we are buying black market items. Here in the US, some people call 911 when they get ripped off by their crack dealers. You could take that approach.

This is the problem with government. It is not like they have a complaint phone number or any customer service department.

Yes the person who stole it may know it is illegal goods. But their act creates the grounds to fight.

Because they have stolen the goods, and made a clear attempt at avoiding the correct paper work, Ant could say he had a Homage watch sent or a cheap gen.

Customs have no proof to the contrary and the thief is hardly going to bring the watch forward and go "... look see it was fine to steal it, its fake I just forgot to fill in the forms and it fell in my pocket by mistake".

It also matters what the sender stated on the customs form. If a toy was stated or a low value watch... OP won't be getting jack.

the thieving bastard is surely in the clear for now...

I wouldn't say that, theiving is theiving even if its only stated at £20 value the Royal mail cunt who did it should lose his job!

Rare

But not unique

This happens now and then, for a double pisser wait till you experience the 'three weeks in customs, opened, bracelets snapped in two, watches thrown back in box sans wrapping (like peas in a whistle) resealed and sent on'

They're not without a sense of humour - its just a morbid one

;)

What a bunch of MFs! I'd complain even if I wasn't gonna get anything back, just to make a fuss. If we don't do it it'll happen more I reckon...

Happened to me once with a two watch consignment

- couldn't really complain because I didn't want to reply to the letter, but it only mentioned a single confiscated roly and not the Tudor

Bastards confiscated one ( I got the standard letter) and stole the other

Royal mail employees are a bunch of thieves. There have been documentaries on this. I can't count how many birthday cards I have sent over the year (no money of course), which have been opened obviously because they were checking for money.
