JazzySOB 0 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) it seems to always be rolexes and omegas. Not entirely true. My last watch, an AP from Silix, was seized. The second watch which was send with DHL came through happily. I believe the first one was seized because is was send with "normal" mail and without specifying the sender. It's better to choose DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc especially when adviced by the TD. Packages with unknown sender are usually captured, because it is suspicious. One time ago I bought a Omega watch from a non-TD and they had it hidden inside a cheap plastic childs alarmclock and send it to me as a sample. Practice makes perfect. Ishmael 92 Posted July 22, 2014 When I hear of shit like this it makes we wonder if there is a better way to ship these. Ship them in pieces, or with a sterile dial, maybe ship them in a box of toys. Just sickening to hear of this. Maybe the dealers should give us the option of shipping them with sterile dials and the rep dials sent separately. Not a big loss to lose the dial a couple of times. Just a thought. Once had a rep shipped to me hidden inside a tea canister full of loose tea leaves. Whatever it takes.
JSJ 0 Posted July 22, 2014 By disguising the watch are you now starting to smuggle rather than import?
Ishmael 92 Posted July 22, 2014 "Importing" isn't any less illegal than "smuggling".
JSJ 0 Posted July 22, 2014 To smuggle is to secretly and illegally move goods across borders. It generally carries serious penalties and in many jurisdictions is a criminal offence. It's not the same as posting an undisguised rep watch across borders. There you generally have the manufacturers agent to deal. I don't think you'll have a visit from special forces just for a rep watch hidden in a toy or a tea bag. It's not the same as one in an envelope though. Smuggle away guys. I won't.
