RevBob 0 Posted October 3, 2010 Hi all; I just received my Omega SMO rep. It was inexpensive and is a great rep, but I have noticed a few faults. First it has a flat crown rather that the domed or stepped crown of the original. I have also noticed something that seems to be common to all of the SMP reps, even the expensive models. The hour markers on the original seem to have a metal surround. My rep and the pictures of the reps I have seen don't have this metal surround. The original also appears to have bright metalic outlines on the 12 and 6 baton markers. It is really hard to tell in any of the photos. I had an original a few years back and I think I remember the bright metal outlines on the hour markers. Of course the photos where I have noticed the metalic linings are magnified many times. Can anyone confirm that the SMP has these metal outlines? Thanks RevBob
Luthier 1 Posted October 4, 2010 Genuine. I don't see any bright metal outlines. Replica. All the same.
jmd33 0 Posted October 4, 2010 +1 From what I have noticed only the new models (with Seamaster written in red) have metal outlines.
JoeyB 0 Posted October 4, 2010 My SMP I got from Mary looks like the the gen pic, even the marker coloring, but with a domed crown.

RevBob 0 Posted October 4, 2010 Thanks JMD. It is the model with the red writing. Is this the latest Omega version of the SMP? This is driving me nuts.................
warcelo 0 Posted October 4, 2010 (edited) Yes it is! Not the most accurate, the bond version ( Luthier pic ) from mary is better. Review of the "red" SMP here: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...mp;hl=seamaster Edited October 4, 2010 by warcelo

This is driving me nuts................. +1 If you go to an AD you will notice the newer bonds that have the metal Omega symbols and seamster written in red have metal outlines on the indicies. I have the black gen where that is true - I'm not sure if all the blue ones are made that way yet (if not, I bet it's coming). sconehead 5 Posted October 4, 2010 Just to confuse you even more Rev, there's an SMP rep of a quartz model, powered by an auto movement. It too has Seamaster in red but just 'professional' with no 'chronometer' on the dial...B)
