I know we have some great photographers on our forums, but personally I thought TTK's photos were the best, I bought many pieces from him over the years starting at TRC, never had a problem with the man or his product and it was his photos that seduced me.

 

Recently after a long absence, he e-mailed me last year and I bought a couple of DSSD from him, I was looking for his online website album so that I could download a mass of photos for a screensaver, I knew it was Villagephotos or something, thankfully I finally got pointed in the right direction, would anyone object if I posted some of what I think was his better stuff in the eyecandy section just to give us some added interest on the forum, or would it be better to just post a link so that some of the newer members can see some of his early work, some of which was quite outstanding, with pieces that are no longer available.

 

I know that some members are upset about his circumstances and actions, which is why I thought I would ask first, if there are objections I won't post anything and of course I would credit them as his photos, so that nobody assumes they are my own.

 

So, come on bawbag, show me where I insulted any member B)

That's what I was saying in my original reply before we all got sidetracked. True or not, many dealers use the tern "Noobfactory'

to refer to watches made in GZ. They may be lying or misled, but the name does appear all over the boards and in the ads from most dealers.

I think the 'newbie' who started the thread most likely was referring to that. Not to say that PWC or Baldrick were wrong about the history of the original Noob factory, MBK, or other Thai watch dealers, just that I doubt the poster has any idea about those people yet.

So if I'm following this correctly, the actual watch parts were still coming from China, probably Ghuanzou. And, apparently the family/group that was assembling and selling them in Thailand have quit production of most watches and all the original Noobfactory ones. So lets just say that a group in Ghuanzou are now assembling the same watches from the same parts, wouldn't they rightly be called Noob watches?

Personally I think that ALL dealers should be dissuaded from using hyperbole such as 'Noobfactory' etc etc, their product should stand on it's own merit, with description nd photos being the yardstick, sorry to harp on about TTK, but he never called them Noobmariners, he referred to them as 074 and 075 he simply posted a full description of the watch(es) with the catalogue number, the appelation was something that found it's way into general usage.

 

As Robert states, the original 16610's are no longer available in the format that TTK / Maria / Narikaa sold, the 'F' serial no's were applicable only to pre and current 2003 models, after that they were 'M' serial no's.

 

@Robert, I understand what you're saying, it doesn't change the fact that TTK introduced them to these forums, as for the 'Noobfactory' in BKK, I'm quite sure that he knew all the players, given that he lived on and off in Thailand since 1986, the last 10 years on a permanent basis, not to mention his presence on the Bay / Freeserve / CQ out and the rest of the auction sites way before the forums!

 

As for the question above, I don't think so, all the parts were sourced from different factories AND some parts were sourced in Thailand, all assembly was carried out in Bangkok, I think it's highly unlikely that any ONE factory in China would glean all the parts to assemble a clone copy of the original BKK item(s).

 

The term is not being bandied about by Chinese manufacturers, only Chinese dealers who are cogniscent of the term and it's weight!

Good information. Having received one of Mark's 21j "Noobmariners" I will have to say it's apparently the same one that Robert and Reg sell. It seems to be the same case as the original other than the engraving, but the rest including dial, crown, and bracelet are not close to the original Noob. The dial and bracelet in particular are no where near the quality of the original IMO.

I haven't seen Robert tout the "noobfactory" label in any of his listings, Mark at TS does use it, but I don't think he has a clue as to the original meaning and is merely passing on the label from his suppliers in GZ (he doesn't make any reference to the original produced "noobmariner" though). Reg is/was selling the "noobmariner" with all the marketing canter, when in fact it is the exact same fooking watch that Mark and Robert sell, down to the same 'M' serial number. Based on the fact that Reg was involved with the original noobmariner selling, it appears that he is the only dealer on this forum that is being intentially deceptive by continuing to tout the original source of "noobmariner" when it is well known that that same source and quality no longer exists and that his 16610 and 16610LV subs are the exact same ones sold elsewhere.
