What is a noobfactory? And what replicas does it specialise in?

Recommended Posts

gB.
The story is Chinese people make fake watches and we buy them. Then the noobfactory announced that, although they didn't exist, with every noobmariner bought you get a blowjob from a girl named Lucky who is really a man from Greece called George. The end.

You go now. You al'eady make happy ending. Must pay twice. You go now!

Oke, now that makes sense. So what we have now are Noobfactory watches but not Noobmariners strictly speaking because they are not assembled by the same people who assembled the original watches. I tend to trust BK's word in this and thanks BK for chiming in by proxy. Interesting to see that George is involved. All this clears up a lot as what is coming out of GZ looked very much like a Noob but not quite the same, now I know why!

Thanks again to BK and NFeisher.

Col.

Well I just received info. from BK. He said the factory is in GZ (? ShenZhen) and they are the same people who made the

original NoobMariner sold in Thailand. The stuff he said is all MADE in China, perhaps assembled elsewhere.

WM9 is involved with the production by making casemolds. BK mentioned that they do make OTHER models and the volume

of production is HUGE. Most resellers over there deal with them. According to him, the quality is in general much better than the other 'factories'

I am no expert in all these details, just an avid collector passing on the information from a very well respected dealer.

PS- I'm not sure why these threads get so personal and nasty.

Or same parts Col if not F520117 case so assembled by different people from different parts = same as ?

Digressing ever so slightly and hating to crap on this good thread again, I'll make it brief and won't protact any more than necessary.

RWG has a great "ignore user" function where you don't see any of that user's posts, only their name and "You have chosen to ignore all posts from: Baldrick." While I know he is talking smack to stick up for his cross dressing buddy and deflect the truth, the board is much more pleasant without reading the ignorant nonsense from some Special Olympic users...

2e949b71.jpg

Uncle Joe, you should try that RWG feature to save yourself some grief, but of course after your current 7 day break...

Oooh, shot thru' the heart

And you're to blame

You give wit

a bad name B)

I can't help the fact that your visual acuity or taste in watches is less than perfect, as aptly demonstrated by your love of that PP monstrosity you were fleeced over, but you do no service to the millions of special needs children worldwide by your continued ( unimaginative ) use of that particular photo and it's cruel mockery of the individual shown, that's somebody's child, a special child that needs all the understanding that we as adults can muster and demonstrate, you've shown quite clearly that you lack flair, creativity, panache and or wit allied to a disregard for those less fortunate.

You turned up with an agenda against Reg ( and me :P ) 'cos I called you out on the PP, now I'm going to ignore you from now on without the benefit of an 'IGNORE" button.

I can take ALL the brick-bats that you want to throw, Lord knows I use a goodly number of jpegs and animated gifs in my posts to provide a little banter and humour, so, I'm not opposed to them, you can call me a dullard, stupid or any other epithet you choose, ( altho' I don't believe you have the necessary vocabulary), I'm big enough and hairy arsed enough to take it, however I'm gonna appeal to what I hope is the better judgment of members and Admin and ask that they ban the future use of that particular image, it serves no great purpose and like you and your persistent use of it, isn't particularly funny B)

Back to the topic.

I understand that we have a fascination for the historicity of our reps, however this continued obsession with Noob this or Noob that, simply clouds the issue, we should only be concerned with what we see, what is sold and what we buy, each item judged on it's own merit, not by any label applied, that was the case with TTK's 074 / 075 offerings, they were judged on the quality of the item, the fact that most other dealers at that time had wokky rehauts, poor dial printing, misaligned M's etc etc.

We shouldn't respond to labels, we are then in danger of falling into the D&G / Armani / Versace label trap, buying something because it's "allegedly Noobfactory".

Correct Robert, the 'Noobfactory' hasn't relocated anywhere, it's in the exact same location, run by the exact same people, just not producing the exact same product as before.

I see lots of posters making wild claims that they have the inside track, UNLESS you lived here in Thailand ( not China ), no, you don't know the whole story, regardless of how many Mary's you speak to or regardless how much any other dealer Bert or otherwise claims, mythology!

Just to clarify.

1. Maria is not George

2. Maria is not Luckky

3. Maria is not even Maria.

However when I have a coffee with him in Naklua later this week, I'll pass on the details of the confusion, it gives him a hoot to hear it.

As a relative newbie to the rep world, this makes perfect sense to me .

Right, I'm away to play with my Noobmariner, I mean Nymphomariner, or is it just a Sub LV B) .........who cares, it looks the dogs danglies anyway .

Baldrick you in Thailand at the moment? I will be in Pattaya on weekend end if you are about send me a PM.

You are absolutely correct about the noob factory only ever being in one place from day 1.

As for these dealers who know better including Bert they have not been around a tomato season so are hardly in a position to know anything other than is told to them by suppliers. I will say it again it is not an original noob factory item unless it has the serial number F520117 between the lugs at 6.

Col you can perhaps verify this I doubt very much that other than the Noob mariner I sent you for your review have the correct serial number of the original noob factory

Does any of this actually matter apart from being mildly interesting from a historical viewpoint? If dealers refer to a Noobfactory is this any worse than referring to a fake watch as a Rolex or a Panerai?

It is ironic that there is arguement about people who make fake brands faking the brands that fake the brands.

@Robert, I am at the moment, however I'm flying home later this week, so won't be around for the weekend, I'm headed from warm rain to cold rain, so little change, maybe upon my return.

@ BL, it really is of little significance, HOWEVER, a lot of newbies keep seeing the name, and others keep elevating the status of the name, it was after all a tag that was coined simply to differentiate it from other 16610's ( or is that 166610's :thumbsup2: ), it's not as if it was an ISO / BS standard or a holy relic, it was a $100 Sub that's all.

What's happened is that other Sub offerings have caught up to the original 074 / 075 and now don't have the wokky rehaut / poor dial etc etc that plagued them at the time, and most on these forums simply use the term to describe a modern Sub offering.

As I said earlier, I think the use of the terms should be discouraged, details, details, details, photos / accurate descriptions and good prices are really all that matter.

The rest is just stuff and legend, the legend of Maria, TTK, MBW's, Luckky, Xkenzo, Eddielee and the dark distant past when good reps were like getting a date with Salma Hyek, difficult to acquire. :D

I dare say the Chinese will take note of that serial number and start adding it to their subs, then we'll really be confused.

Btw, +1 to what Col and Balders said about that pic.
