Elvis 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Anyone know where I can buy a rep of this watch - Using the forums trusted dealer lists I have come across a few that are close, such as this from timeshops - ....but it is only available with the black dial. Any ideas?
greg_r 81 Posted October 6, 2010 Send a pic to ReplicaMake or WatchInternational and ask if they can get it. If neither of them can get it, it isn't going to be available anywhere else...

TAGster 5 Posted October 6, 2010 no problem. Isn't the dial really black and only the crystal is AR blue coated ? That's a bloody good question, I had thought the dial was blue but I could be wrong. The gen Monaco Calibre 11 dial is indeed blue, it is the original design from 1969, so the photo you posted is the vintage Heuer Monaco watch, so that being said, you are right: the dial should be blue not black. Now, there is a today´s Monaco model inspired on that vintage watch and also designed with the Le Mans movie and Steve McQueen in mind. The dial on today´s Monaco Calibre 12 can be blue, black or with the red-blue stripes and the "Gulf" logo like the McQueen´s Porsche. Today´s model is also unofficially known as the "Monaco 1969" because that was the year when Heuer first designed an square case watch, then a year later McQueen (Steve not the Lightning) chose to wear it on his movie, since then the Monaco series are closely related to McQueen, and that is why the today´s Calibre 12 "1969" is still looking like the vintage one, but is not the same. Let me show you the photos of the actual Monaco Calibre 12: Cheers!

Elvis 0 Posted October 7, 2010 Thanks for the backgroung Tagster.......a shame they weren't more faithfull to the original, by keeping the crown in the original position and omitting the 'TAG' from the logo.....
spboudart 0 Posted October 7, 2010 Ain't you guys taking about different Monacos? The 69, is a Monaco with only one subdial, the rep of it is cheap, and Watcheden has 6 different colors of it. Tag Heuer Sixty Nine Blue dial WE also has it with 2 subdials in black, white or grey, but not correct

Tag Heuer Sixty Nine Blue dial WE also has it with 2 subdials in black, white or grey, but not correct Nope my friend, the Monaco you are talking about is the "Sixty Nine" model, that is quite different from the two Original Monaco Calibre 11 (first Heuer square watch made in 1969) and the today´s Monaco Calibre 12 (also known unofficially as "1969"). The actual Monaco Sixty Nine is a TAG Heuer watch that has double movement: mechanical manual-winding Calibre 2 and quartz Calibre HR03. So the watch has two dials ("reversible") one analog and one digital. And the gen dial only comes on black. Check out this is the gen Monaco Sixty Nine: Cheers! No prob mate, and I totally agree with you. I also like better the original Monaco, even the sub-dials and the strap are more appeal than the today´s model. Hope you can find the rep you´re looking for. Cheers!

I was induced into error when I read the thread title. To me '69' is the same thing as 'Sixty-nine'. Didn't know that the Monaco Cal.11 was also called: 69! A bit confusing! One get its name from the year built and the other one from its functionality. I used to have the rep of the 'Sixty-nine' to bad it's a cheapie with 2 quartz movement inside, the 4 screws on the front and a chrono to the 1/100 and not the 1/1000,. I wish a better rep would exist, nevertheless I miss the one I had (broke the crystal and gave it to a member here) and I'm going to re-order it. It's really a fun watch to have in a collection.
