Dendo 93 Posted October 13, 2010 Why do Tourbillon movements not appear much in rep watches? 1) no good rep tourbillon movements. 2) too expensive. 3) tourbillon watches don't look good. 4) too expensive/difficult to maintain. 5) all of the above. Seems to me if there was a reliable tourbillon in a skeleton watch it might look quite stunning. Thoughts?
xcape 0 Posted October 13, 2010 Too expensive for replica. ''I've never seen before a gen tourbilon watch which costs less then 40000$.''
Dendo 93 Posted October 13, 2010 Too expensive for replica. ''I've never seen before a gen tourbilon watch which costs less then 40000$.'' True but what about this rep - is it for real? http://www.1-pc8838.com/br00088-jubilee-sk...rbi-p-8844.html It costs enough $888.
AllergyDoc 40 Posted October 13, 2010 River used to sell a gen Tourby for $739. 40mm ( Big One ) Hand-wind 27J Date / Real Moon phase ( Quick adjustable ) 1 min 360 degree Flying Tourbillon Sapphire Crystal 729 usd EMS shipped I don't know if he/she is still selling them, though. Skip the reps; they look bad.
Ska 11 Posted October 13, 2010 There are actually quite a few very nice tourbillon reps available. They're not necessarily very accurate to the gen - and are therefore more successful as 'fantasy' watches however they are also incredibly beautiful timepieces in their own right. I bought a Jaeger LeCoultre Master Tourbillon rep from Mary and it still holds the top spot as my favourite watch. The engineering is staggering and it is quite breathtaking in the flesh. http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...?showtopic=7653 Hope this helps. KinCaidk 0 Posted October 13, 2010 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...?showtopic=7653 Looks great!! Edit: Skathe beat me to it! But why wouldn't he... it's his watch
Dendo 93 Posted October 13, 2010 Thanks guys - just what I was looking for. From what I read about these movements they need a top class watchsmith for maintenance. The movements are exceptionally complex. I will check with Mary - cheers.
Dendo 93 Posted October 13, 2010 Thanks Skathe and Kinky, That is an amazing review and watch (and a beautiful wife!!!). What more do you need in life. No don't answer that.
greg_r 81 Posted October 14, 2010 There are plenty of rep tourbillons around, but they're expensive. $5-600 is starting price and they go up from there. Some of the chinese tourby movements are wonderful, but they are VERY difficult to service, which will be an issue as the watch gets older.
