GEM 0 Posted October 18, 2010 Hi guys I'm new on the forum and I'm going to buy my first Rep ! I would like to buy a Submariner... but I wonder about the movement : Should I order a Sub with an ETA 2836, or a Sub with a Rolex Cloned Movement ? In both cases, the prices are the same. The Swiss ETA movement may be more reliable. And I'm not going to open the case to look at the Movement everyday ! So, what do you think about it ? Which movement is more reliable/precise ? Which movement would you buy ? Thanks in advance for your help !

sconehead 5 Posted October 18, 2010 +1, the Rolex clone movement hasn't had stellar reports, in fact it's one to avoid...

GEM 0 Posted October 18, 2010 THANKS for your answers ! I'm going to get the ETA I think I will order my Sub on the "Perfect Clones" website (http://www.1-pc8838.com/index.php). I have seen it on the "Trusted Dealers List". Any feedbacks from this dealer ? And, for sure, when I get the watch, I show you some pics !

Josh is a very good dealer and his after sales service is better than most. You will pay a little extra for that level of service though. Generally you can buy the same watch from other dealers for about 10% less.
Waipio Jeff 0 Posted October 19, 2010 10% is a fair surcharge for a noob to pop his cherry in the rep world. Worth the extra service, emails, tracking and all that other stuff that some of us used to be anal about.
Pentax 0 Posted October 19, 2010 I think it's obvious cloned eta is Asian made and Swiss eta is Swiss made if you have the option buy the Swiss movement I don't think the asians make better movement than the Swiss!
greg_r 82 Posted October 19, 2010 I think it's obvious cloned eta is Asian made and Swiss eta is Swiss made if you have the option buy the Swiss movement I don't think the asians make better movement than the Swiss! Oversimplification. That's assuming you get the Swiss movement. It is very difficult to tell the difference between the movements unless you know what you're looking for - and most dealers will rely on the factory description, meaning that it's far from guaranteed. PrestigeWatchCo & WatchInternational can be relied upon to supply an ETA movement if that's what they say they're going to supply. The rest of the time there is a strong likelihood that you'll either get an elderly secondhand movement, or the Asian clone anyhow. Ultimately, the 'Asian clone' movements are excellent anyhow and parts are interchangeable with the swiss version. If you're buying from anybody other than the dealers I mentioned, I'd save the dough and buy the asian version as that's likely to be what you're going to get anyhow... By the way - avoid the so-called 'Rolex copy' movement. It's very unconvincing and not as reliable as the other options.
GEM 0 Posted October 20, 2010 Thanks to all for your answers ! I just bought the Josh's Submariner yesterday, with the Swiss ETA movement as you recommended. As soon as I receive the watch (about two weeks), I take some pictures !
