graman 2 Posted October 21, 2010 Ironbark is a very dense and lovely wood. Very robust, it has a fine grain with some fiddleback swirls. Often referred by my Grandfather as "not hardwood, it's hardhardhardwood!" Ironbark shapes well, and sands beautifully. KBH 7 Posted October 21, 2010 I wonder if this is the same as what we 'Mericans call ironwood? Also know as lignum vitae. It looks like it. It's so hard the old sailing ships used it to carve out wood pulleys used in the ships block and tackle. I used to have one of those old pulleys years ago and it was an awesome piece.
