plankton 1 Posted October 18, 2014 I read some interesting information 2 weeks ago on how Rolex finishes the pearl once mounted. I thought I'd try it to see if we could get the Noob BK version to be spot on. I did order a brand new BKLM DSSD, did the slight mod and shot some pics. I happy with it. plankton 1 Posted October 19, 2014 The gen pearl has slightly polished top edges, you will see how the Noob looks like the metal edges are to wide. Remove bezel insert with pearl intact, use a 1.5 mm hole punch on a strip of aluminum tape (for AC repair), punch your hole and apply tape so just the pearl is showing. Get a gloss finished 1x3 piece of polishing board (you could use a glossy business card, playing card if needed), place one small dot of Simichrome polish on the pearl and polish just the edges from the outside of the circle and around until you see black SS on the card, at that point make 4-5 slow even swipes across the top at a angle 10 degrees off level from the pearl to finish your top edged (you do not want to polish the glass on top of the pearl). you will end up with one that looks identical to the finished GEN pearl.
