nicewatchdude 0 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) I had some parts laying around and decided to take on the challenge of making an interpretive artsy homage based on the rad case. here were the parts to start with I saw this as an excellent opportunity to make an homage breaking free from the reproduction tendency to copy the historic Pams So... In my mind I was making a story. An in-famous Italian war veteran moved to America after the war in an effort to escape his painful past. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, because it helped him forget the painful memories of war. But he also loved his Pam, and he couldn't rid himself of the affection he felt for his time piece. So, in an effort to keep his watch and forget times ago, he had a local watchmaker artist transform his war relic to reflect the Harley spirit, and free him from those painful days. (and thus eliminating some individual in the future making huge monetary gains on a war relic they had no part in contributing to ) With a little (or maybe too much) crazy nutz in my (the watchmakers) brain, I spent hours squaring the case, making it as square as possible, much more-so than the cali, soldering, sanding and polishing all with different grits of sand paper, no rouge, grits 150-12000. This desire was driven from how I really enjoyed the look and feel of the finished cali vintage case, but wanted it much cleaner. So it came out like this. And those lugz are The strap won't come off and drop your precious balance assembly on a hard floor resulting in a snapped staff. He grabbed a pocket watch crown to replace the brevet crown which was warn brass, and sanded, polished, nickel plated, and re-polished it as well He cut and bonded two separate dials, developing a new look based on the combination he had to work with He re-decorated the movement, sanded and polished it, plating the bridges with nickel and black chrome echoing Art Nouveau and Deco mixtures on the front and displaying exhaust crusted chrome over mechanical works from the underside. He lumed with a different approach, Art Nouveau flowers by day, and a look into the peaceful cosmos by night, framed by the time that measures the near universe Edited November 12, 2010 by nicewatchdude
