What is wrong with my watch?

Recommended Posts

My Explorer1 keeps stopping, however when I leave the crown out (not screwed in) the watch will run properly. So it is the crown that caused it to stopped. Is the crown stem too long?

How do I find out what is actually wrong and how to fix it?

Possibly the stem is a little too long, or the crown is not screwed onto the stem fully.

I call a Bingo on that one. Had a similar problem with one of my watches. Stem too long.

Bash64, did you just shorten the stem?

I screwed the crown in about 60% leaving some thread exposed and it is running fine! I guess screwing it in all the way caused it to stop so either stem too long or the stem is not screwed into the crown all the way.

Yup. It is a little bit of a process to remove it. Sometimes you need to apply a little heat or solvent (they often glue it).

When you shorten, try a dremel, and take off much less than you think till it works well. Use some locktite whe you put it back together.

Whatever you do, do not over shorten it. :)
