kossim 0 Posted January 8, 2015 Since this is my first post, please excuse me if the topic is already somewhere in the forum, I couldn't find it anyway. During my research for a new strap, I found most of the dealers webpages not providing to many information about the quality/feeling/differences about the different types of leather that they are using. Ok.. I understand that gator is better, softer and "nicer" than croco or lizards but thats it! I have no idea how the shark or the toad leather is, for instance, is it softer? is it stiffer? more or less durable?? It would be great if anybody knows to explain the differences in the leather feelings, grades and types? Thank you
McJules 396 Posted January 8, 2015 i can't tell about shark as i never did one but Dan (P4GTR) or Serge would be able to answer but toad is paper thin so 90% of the straps (in my case, don't know for other) is cow leather wich will last for a long time Ostrich and gator feel very soft when you touch it and it's fun to work with I would say that the stiffness will rely on what you have under (body and backing), padded or not
