greg_r 81 Posted November 22, 2008 My original intention had been to buy a cheapie Breitling SOH. Unfortunately after my order, I got a mail from jiuli9 (a dealer on CQout) to tell me that they were out of stock and would I like to choose something else? I'd been toying with the idea of buying a Tag SLR, so decided to go for a cheapie that was being listed - albeit at a higher price than the SOH. I was, therefore, very impressed when jiuli9 offered to send me the Tag for the lower price - a very worthwhile discount. As it turns out, Oscar ordered one from the same dealer on the same day. I think he was fairly pleased with his, but I have mixed feelings. The good stuff: 1. it was ridiculously cheap 2. although it's quartz, there's no running seconds subdial, so it isn't obvious that it's quartz unless you run the chronos 3. The watch itself is quite nicely finished, looks the part and keeps perfect time The not-so-good: 1. The watch came with a reasonably good-looking rubber strap (which I don't mind as a rule, although I'd have preferred a bracelet for this model). Sadly the strap is less comfortable than I'd hoped and is a real dust magnet. It stayed on the watch for all of half an hour before I ripped it off in disgust and replaced it with a rather nice brown leather strap that I had in the spares box (the strap was cheap but it's soft as butter and incredibly comfortable). 2. The chrono hand didn't reset to 12 when the watch first arrived, but - as with most quartz watches - it was an easy fix, so no biggie. Overall, it's not bad for a cheapie quartz, but not in the same league as my other cheapies. I like the style, though, so it's a prime candidate for a better quality version to be bought later. Yeah, it's funny - I never used to be a major fan of TAGs, but they've become one of my favourite watch brands - there's several others on my wants list...
