I believe (like for the timegraphers) its just the same production company ;)

What shocked me is the price difference for a thing which is a simple cable coil in a plastic case :-O

What is even more shocking is the price to manufacture versus the retail price.

Don't blame the player blame the game.

Thats how capitalism works and how brand equity is measured by those investing in companies.

The more equity your brand has the more of this you can get away with.

Yes, the $40 unit likely cost $4 to manufacture.

All the same, I must admit the Swiss unit has the best lume.

The Bergeon Demag. includes EUR 76,60 VAT to help the poor EU governments pay their debt and shipping for EUR 26,60 is on top.

With the cheaper tool at EUR 35,59 only the consumer would benefit..... strangely the shipping is only 4,99 as well - it´s in proportion.....

Nicely noticed Gentle...

Some tools indeed worth the money, but some don't. This one is the case when you should buy a cheap knock-of because in the the end neither Bergeon nor chinese invented the "de-maginitizer". It's just plastic and some wiring.

Reviving this thread just to show you what I got from eBay.

Well I actually got this "Swiss made" tool:

The stickers are cut because I opened the device to reposition a led.

Still 40 vs 540$...

I picked up a demagnetizer a couple of months ago and paid $15 for it to replace a $200 one I'd gotten as a gift. Now I'm looking for a new one. Moral: quality is more important than price. Let me know how that one works for you.

What I was pointing out with that picture is the Bergeon sticker and box: if you look at that thing you can see it is just the same. I bet same company produces the "official" one, and then sometimes sold it i se grey market with anonymous label sometimes with Bergeon one like mine. So if you go for the official channel you will end up paying 500$ more for the same thing =:-O
