Tressles61 0 Posted November 21, 2010 This project started out with a new ceramic Submariner with the oversized case. After looking at pbdad's work I wanted to try some stuff on a Sub. I shaved the crown guards off for a vintage feel to it. I notched the bezel ring creating a more rugged look. I was going to PVD the bezel ring and crown but decided the current look was much better. I had a yellow dialed Bamford Sub laying around that I never wore. I ended up using the dial out of the watch to create what you see below. The crystal is custom at 3mm thick with Rolex etched at 6. The ceramic bezel insert is 1mm thicker than what was stock to the watch and I added a used gen crown and tube. The crown side has been re-polished and top is brushed. Watch is sealed and tested to 4 ATM. Here's the results - hope you all like it. I custom made a 3mm thick crystal to get the correct rise Was difficult catching the Rolex etch at 6 And finally... the lume shot - very, very bright! AllergyDoc 40 Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) Nice work! A mix of old and new. I'd have to get used to not having CGs, though. I'd wear that watch. :pollox: P.S. Who took the pics? Edited November 22, 2010 by AllergyDoc

Tressles61 0 Posted November 22, 2010 Nice work! A mix of old and new. I'd have to get used to not having CGs, though. I'd wear that watch. :pollox: P.S. Who took the pics? A buddy of mine who knows nothing of watch porn... He took four hi-rez photos (with a flash) and I cropped the photos above out of the four. I'm buying a camera next... I think I can do much better on photography - the watch looks like a million bucks in person and I need to capture that on film!

aafanatic 0 Posted February 23, 2013 I really like the shaved crown guards. It's such a cool look. The older a watch is supposed to be, the less people know what it is supposed to look like.
