Just the 1 hour per day FAST!!

Recommended Posts

Jonnybaws

Bought a lovely AP 15400...

Was meant to have a nicely serviced Miyota movement (I may be but the fuckers running a bit on the fast side..)

To go along with a lovely Gen like polish (which it has)

A nice AR'd Crystal, (which it has)

Really like the watch but can't wear it being that quick..

1 minute a day, heck not an issue, a hour hour, that's a whole different ball game..

Its between 2.5 to 3s per minute quick...

25 seconds quick evey ten minutes

150 seconds (2.5 minutes) quick per hour..

3600 seconds quick per day...

This is the watch in question, this is the movement pic..

So, what to do... get it fixed I guess...

Any recommendations? Certainly something I can't fix ;)

I may be very wrong, so take this with a pinch (or shovel) of salt.

Looking at the picture, the adjuster on the balance seems to be right round at the + side. If that's the case, adjusting it in the other direction may slow things down a bit?

Any experts, please feel free to tell me I'm a plum and don't know what I'm talking about :D

Would say the same from looking at that pic.

I have good experience with Micky (SSTEEL). Great guy and a quick return.

Micky is an option but I would like to keep it UK, if possible local... (i'm impatient bastard and want things yesterday :D )

An hour fast is well outside simple regulation - may well be a tangled hairspring or the like. Give UK Watch Services a try - he's damned good.

There's a TD list for this kind of thing........

Come on JB, RWG school, Day1 Lesson1,

Only use the dealers on the TD LIST, the rest are scamming cunts.

With the price of a new miyota movement (less than £50 from cousins UK and maybe cheaper elsewhere) it will probably be cheaper to do a movement swap for a brand new one and chuck it as opposed to servicing, you may even me able to sell the fast runner on m2m to a wannabe tinkerer to play with to recoup a little bit of the cost

Worse case scenario, new movement time, inexpensive. I would go with Greg, and say its either the hair spring tangled up, or the movement is magnetised, or even has a pube lurking in the hair spring.

You have to adjust the macro portion to get it close then use the micro adjustment which is the little arm with the scale. Easy fix if that is what it is.

err hang on a bit i missed something ,, what was the cure??

On arrival it was ticking away so I whacked it on the wrist after setting the time...

Wore it and then realised it was on the quick side..

Got upset...

Wrote this thread...

Continued to get upset..

Had some advice, sent a few PMs..

Before packaging it up to send off to get looked at, gave Andyboys advice of giving it a wind a go, to my surprise, it worked (continues to do so)..

Now no longer upset, quite the opposite..

Happy days!
