Tneal15 0 Posted March 15, 2015 I have been doing a lot of research and can't seem to find out if there is a preferred movement for a Rep PO. I have a Aqua Terra with an ETA 2824-2 and have no problems thus far. I want to buy a PO, but am faced with the issue of going with a Miyota 8205, ETA 2824-2, or an Asain 2836. Do any of you have experience with which one is better? Thanks, Neal
Tommihayes 0 Posted March 15, 2015 I've had POs with miyota and with 2824-2 (Asian) and I couldn't get on with the miyota. It didn't look as smooth as I wanted it to. It has 6 beats per second whereas the 2824 has 8. The gen has 7 so neither are accurate but had to get the 2824 and now it never leaves my wrist.
JSJ 0 Posted March 15, 2015 Depends on whether the lack of a smooth sweep bothers you. It bothers me but it doesn't bother some others. That's fine. Only you can decide. A 4 cylinder car engine is 2 away from a 6. So is an 8. Please nobody tell me that therefore an 8 is the same difference as a 4. It ain't. Watch a 7 bps coaxial Omega and tell me it looks like a 6 bps Miyota. It don't. Buy the 2824 or 2836 rep or the gen coaxial, which is not even slightly repped. Tneal15 0 Posted March 16, 2015 Where would I find a Gen Co-Axial? I have searched high and low for one.
RichardMiami 4 Posted March 16, 2015 Where would I find a Gen Co-Axial? I have searched high and low for one. About the only place you will find that movement is inside an Omega (gen). I am not sure if it is sourced independent of the watch. The 3313b: But I could be wrong...
Irishcain 0 Posted March 16, 2015 As Rich said, you won't find a co-axiel outside a gen. Go with the 2824 or 2836. Both are outstanding movements that are easily repairable or replaceable if something does go wrong someday.
BC1221 44 Posted March 16, 2015 Go with the Asian 2836. Those are more than likely Noobs. The ETA ones are made by BP. theyre hit or miss. you can end up with a great movement or it can crap out on you pretty quick. the Miyota version looks better on the movement side but it wouldnt fool anyone that knew what a omega movement looked like anyway. Tneal15 0 Posted March 16, 2015 Sorry to ask this, but what is "NOOBS" referring to?
BC1221 44 Posted March 16, 2015 there are 1000s of posts about noob/bp/v6/AT..etc theyre different "factories" or makers.
JSJ 0 Posted March 17, 2015 Where would I find a Gen Co-Axial? I have searched high and low for one. Man, you ask, therefore you don't know and haven't read. Just buy a noob or BP and be happy with it. Or front up the cash and buy a gen. If you really want a coaxial in a rep, hunt for a Franken. I wouldn't myself but I understand why some do. Canadian Buck 0 Posted July 14, 2015 ETA or Asian ETA will be just fine. Omega uses a modified ETA to begin with so it sweeps nearly identical
JSJ 0 Posted July 14, 2015 ETA or Asian ETA will be just fine. Omega uses a modified ETA to begin with so it sweeps nearly identical Err Omega uses their own coaxial movement 7 bps. No rep or Asian of that, not even close
greg_r 84 Posted July 14, 2015 You guys do realise this is a 4 month-old thread, yes?
