That was my same thought...his pearl cup/holder looks too thick. What's going on here?

so the right order is: put the crystal in the gasket, then on top of the watch, align the cyclops and then use a presser to push the retainer ring over the assembly? or am i missing something here?

Found this... maybe it will be a help to someone who messes up with the upper assembly of the watch. This article explains the rolex crystal gasket. At the end there is a video. Watch it. This is the first thing you must do, then use a crystal presser to put the retaining ring and that it should be it.
