Pam 7750 rotor stuck?!

Recommended Posts

Hornet

Help! Looks like the rotor on my Pam, with a 7750 movement, is stuck. I've tried gently shaking it to free it, but it looks like the ends of the rotor are jammed against the case back and the middle is down, movement is still working and amazingly hasn't stopped (like it usually does)

I was thinking of taking the case back off and have a look, but as I'm not expert (at all...) with watches was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what to do?

Looks like the tiny screws that hold the rotor bearing have come loose, or the actual weight has come away from the bearing itself.

Easy enough to repair should you have the right tools, you will need a small 0.60mm flat screwdriver, and of course a rubber ball to get the case back off, or proper tool for the Panerai case back.

Mick has nailed it ..

Rotor weight come away from the bearing .. hence spinning off centre and fouling the case side . simple fix

Update on developments! Have managed to get case back off, ball covered in gaffa tape works wonders.....

.....rotor was at an odd angle. I delicately touched it (honest....) and it fell off. What I wondering now if whether this is broken or whether the rotor isn't actually screwed down to anything?

I've had a look at that link Dal, but I'm not sure how he fixed the rotor back on? My looks like this now:

Bearings are still in place, but the little cover plate with three screws is loose, does this just need to be screwed into the bearing/rotor?

The centre plate with the three screws has a threaded screw in the centre which is also part of the plate yes

The three screws are just for show and not functional

Aaaaah, I think I'm with you now, just been slow. The centre plate has a threaded portion, but no screw head on the top surface, so presume you place it back in position and gentle hand screw it back in place?

Interesting that those are faux screws. I recently had a Seagull ST movement with these small screws, but they were real in that movement.

I would like to claim my skills played some part in this, but to be honest after I managed to open up the case back and the rotor fell out I did have a minor crisis!
